NEHC Women - Week 1 Release

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, October 30th. New England College's Emily Lenzen (Littleton, Colo.) was named Player of the Week, while Castleton's Kristen DiCiccio (Lowell, Mass.) and Elmira's MK Boyle (Newport, R.I.) earned Goaltender and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.


Player of the Week

Emily Lenzen - New England College
(Junior, Forward - Littleton, Colo.)

Lenzen had a goal and three assists against Neumann on Saturday, leading the 'Grims to their first 2-0 record since 2009. The junior was also a solid 38 of 44 (86.3%) on faceoffs.

Goaltender of the Week

Kristen DiCicco – Castleton University
(Junior, Goaltender – Lowell, Mass.)

DiCicco earned a shutout and led the Spartans to a 3-0 victory over the Rivier Raiders on Saturday in their home-opener.

Rookie of the Week

MK Boyle – Elmira College
(Freshman, Forward – Newport, R.I.)

Boyle tallied her first collegiate goal in the third period to help No. 4 Elmira rally past Utica 3-2 at home on Friday night. Boyle's game-winning goal came at the 17:37 mark of the third period after Elmira erased a 2-1 deficit late in the second period. Boyle finished the game with two shots and a +1 plus/minus rating.

 

Honor Roll

Madison Chagnon - University of Southern Maine
(Sophomore, Forward - Saint Albans, V.T.)

Chagnon scored the only goal in a 2-1 loss to University of New England on Friday. She followed up the next day with a goal and an assist in a tight 4-3 loss to #9 ranked Endicott College.

Claire Meeder – Elmira College
(Senior, Forward – Woodbury, Minn.)

Playing in her first game since suffering a season-ending injury last season, Meeder picked up right where she left off as she tallied a goal and an assist as No. 4 Elmira defeated Utica 3-2 at home on Friday. Meeder assisted on the first goal of the contest for the Soaring Eagles and knotted the score 2-2 with just nine seconds remaining in the second period. She finished the game with nine shots overall and a +2 plus/minus rating.
