NEHC Men - Week 7 Release

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, December 12th. New England College's Alex LaPlante (Londonderry, N.H.) took home Player of the Week honors. Norwich University's Drennan Atherton (Winter Haven, Fla.) and New England College's Spencer Kozlowski (Vancouver, British Columbia) were named Co-Goaltenders of the Week. Nick Cordeiro (Mississauga, Ont.) was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week

Alex LaPlante - New England College
(Graduate, Forward - Londonderry, N.H.)


LaPlante, the Grims' leading scorer this season, tallied two goals and two assists over two games this week in contests against Salem State and Plymouth State. His goal just 1:12 into the game against the Vikings set the tone for a 4-1 victory for NEC.

Co-Goaltenders of the Week

Drennen Atherton - Norwich University
(Senior, Goaltender - Winter Haven, Fla,)


Atherton was stellar in the Cadet's lone contest of the week against Plattsburgh State. He made 34 saves overall, including 12 in the second and 14 in the third to carry Norwich to victory.

Spencer Kozlowski - New England College
(Graduate, Goaltender - Vancouver, British Columbia)


Kozlowski was outstanding for the 'Grims against the Vikings of Salem State on Thursday, stopping the first 24 shots he faced and finishing with 35 saves on the night with a .972 save percentage.

Rookie of the Week

Nick Cordeiro - Norwich University
(Freshman, Forward - Mississauga, Ont.)


Cordeiro's first collegiate goal couldn't have been more timely as it proved to be the game-winner against Plattsburgh State in a tight 2-1 battle.

 

Honor Roll

Kevin Bite - Johnson & Wales University
(Sophomore, Defense - Atlanta, Ga.)

Bite scored the game-winning goal and collected an assist in the Wildcat's first win of the season on Friday against Rivier. He finished the night with three shots on goal, an assist on JWU's fourth goal on the evening, and +1 plus/minus.

Curtis Judd - University of Southern Maine
(Senior, Forward - Newton, Mass.)

Judd's impressive offensive season continued with three goals in two games this week. Judd scored a powerplay goal against Stonehill on Friday night. He added two goals on Saturday against Anna Maria for his third multi-point game of the year.
