NEHC Men - Week 4 Release

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, November 20th. University of Southern Maine's Curtis Judd (Newton, Mass.) was selected as the Player of the Week, Hobart's Damon Beaver (Whitby, Ontario) was tabbed Goaltender of the Week, while Johnson & Wales' Brendan Doyle (Stratham, N.H.) earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Player of the Week

Curtis Judd - University of Southern Maine
(Senior, Forward – Newton, Mass.)

Judd had a hand in three of the Huskies' five goals last week. He picked up an assist against Castleton on Friday and then followed that up with a two-goal performance against Skidmore on Saturday.

Goaltender of the Week

Damon Beaver - Hobart College
(Freshman, Goaltender - Whitby, Ont.)

Beaver stopped all 26 shots he faced as he helped the Statesmen shut out UMass Boston 3-0 on Saturday. It was the second consecutive shutout for the Whitby, Ontario Native. Beaver is 4-0-0 with a 0.75 goals against average and a .971 save percentage.

Rookie of the Week

Brendan Doyle - Johnson & Wales University
(Freshman, Forward - Stratham, N.H.)

Doyle scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Elmira. His first tuck was a tremendous individual effort as he skated through the neutral zone, deked his defender and slid the puck on his backhand through the legs of the Soaring Eagles goalie. His second of the day and third of the season was a slam dunk PP goal at the right post and cut the Wildcats lead to one.

Honor Roll

Jacob Franczak - Skidmore College
(Junior, Forward - Edmonton, A.B.)
Franczak tallied three assists for the Thoroughbreds in an undefeated conference weekend, with a tie with #7 Babson followed by a dominant win over Southern Maine. The junior transfer had an assist on Friday against Babson before pitching in with a pair of helpers on Saturday against USM. Also strong at the faceoff dot, Franczak went 21-13 (61.8 percent) in the circle and posted a +3 plus/minus rating.

Andrew Kormos - New England College
(Graduate, Goaltender - Milford, Mich.)
Kormos continued to dominate in net, stopping 41 of 42 shots against Norwich on Friday evening. For the season, Kormos ranks second in the NEHC in save percentage and goals-against-average.

Drennen Atherton - Norwich University
(Senior, Goaltender - Winter Haven, Fla.)
Atherton stood tall when called upon in his 18 save shutout of NEC especially when the Pilgrims has a 6 on 4 advantage at the end of the game.
