NEHC Men - Week 3 Release
MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, November 13th. Hobart College teammates Luke Aquaro (Yardley, Pa) and Damon Beaver (Whitby, Ont.) were recognized as Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. New England College's Andrew Kormos (Milford, Mich.) was named Goaltender of the Week.
Player of the Week
Luke Aquaro - Hobart University
(Sophomore, Forward – Yardley, Pa.)
Aquaro recorded four points on three goals and an assist in a 2-0-0 week for Hobart. On Friday, he scored Hobart's game-winning goal in overtime as the Statesmen rallied to beat Buffalo State 4-3 in overtime. The next day he scored twice and had an assist in the win over Cortland. His first goal of the game was the game-winning tally. Aquaro has scored Hobart's game-winning goal in four straight games. Through the first six games of the year, Aquaro has nine points on six goals and three assists.
Goaltender of the Week
Andrew Kormos - New England College
(Graduate, Goaltender – Milford, Mich.)
Kormos picked up his second straight win on Saturday against the Spartans of Castleton, picking up a 32-save shutout. On the season, the fifth-year senior has a 1.34 goals-against average in three starts.
Rookie of the Week
Damon Beaver - Hobart College
(Freshman, Goaltender – Whitby, Ont.)
Beaver was 1-0-0 in goal for the Statesmen this week. He stopped all 28 shots he faced in Hobart's victory over Cortland, which is receiving votes in the USCHO.com poll. It was Beaver's first collegiate shutout. He is 3-0-0 to start the year with a 1.00 goals against average and a .962 save percentage.
Honor Roll
Andrew Holland - Babson College
(Senior, Forward - Winchester, Mass.)
Holland recorded his first career hat trick to help No. 8 Babson defeat Johnson & Wales, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon. He scored a short-handed goal at 17:58 of the second period and tallied a power play goal at 2:57 of the third before notching another short-handed tally just under five minutes later as the Beavers extended their winning streak to three.
