MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, January 22nd. Elmira College’s Chance Gorman (Flemington, N.J.) was selected as Player of the Week. Player of the Week

Chance Gorman – Elmira College
(Junior, Forward - Flemington, N.J.)

Gorman helped the Soaring Eagles bounce back from a Friday evening defeat to Hobart by scoring four goals against the No. 1 nationally-ranked Statesmen on Saturday in Elmira's 7-5 victory. Gorman notched the first hat trick of his career and a fourth goal on an empty-netter which was assisted by goaltender Kyle Curtin in the final minutes as the program celebrated 50 Years of Hockey at the Murray Athletic Center.

Goaltender of the Week

Tate Brandon - Skidmore College
(Junior, Goaltender - Irvington, N.Y.)

In an unbeaten conference weekend for Skidmore, Brandon stopped 63 of the 66 shots on goal he saw for a .955 save percentage and a 1.44 goals-against average. Brandon made 35 saves against nationally fifth-ranked Norwich on Friday. He added 28 more on Saturday as the Thoroughbreds defeated New England College, 5-2. Two of the three goals allowed for Brandon came while Skidmore was on the penalty kill.

Rookie of the Week

Ryan Murphy - Babson College
(Freshman., Forward - Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.)

Murphy recorded his first career hat trick to help No. 12 Babson defeat Johnson & Wales, 3-1, on Friday night. He scored the opening goal of the game early in the first period and broke a 1-1 deadlock with two tallies over the final seven minutes of the third period.

Honor Roll

Zach Tyson - Hobart College
(Graduate, Forward - Dublin, Ohio)

Tyson had five points on the week, recording two goals and three assists over two games. On Friday, he scored twice and added an assist, factoring into Hobart's final three goals of the game. On Saturday, he tallied two assists against the Soaring Eagles. Tyson has 13 points on eight goals and five assists this season. Saturday was his 100th career game.

Darius Bell - UMass Boston
(Sophomore, Goaltender - Miami, Fla.)

Making only his second start of the season, Bell held No. 12 Babson College to one goal while making 27 saves for UMass Boston on Saturday. Bell stood tall in net for the Beacons, helping his team kill off 6-of-7 power plays that the Beavers had in the game. The Miami, Florida native made his first start last weekend against New England College and has now allowed just two goals on 58 shots across his first 120 minutes as a Beacon.

Andrew Kormos - New England College
(Graduate, Goaltender - Milford, Mich.)

Kormos continued to show why he's one of the best goalies in the NEHC this past week, with a .952 save percentage and a 1.68 goals-against average. Facing the Spartans of Castleton on Friday, Kormos picked up his sixth win of the season, stopping 24 of 25 shots. Then on Saturday in relief at Skidmore, he kept the Pilgrims in the game stopping 35 of 37 shots. For the season, Kormos is third in the NEHC in saves and save percentage.
