NEHC Men - Week 10 Release

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, January 15th. New England College's Anthony Cinato (Warren, Mich.) took home Player of the Week honors. Norwich University teammates Drennen Atherton (Winter Haven, Fla.) and Johnny Johnson (Napierville, Ill.) earned Goaltender and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.

Player of the Week

Anthony Cinato – New England College
(Junior, Forward – Warren, Mich.)

Cinato scored in both of NEC's games this week, with goals against Johnson & Wales and UMass Boston. He also tacked on an assist against Johnson & Wales en route to a 6-2 victory. At press time, the junior was tied for second in the conference in total points with 18. Up next for NEC, the 'Grims look to bounce back when they travel to Castleton on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. NEHC contest.

Goaltender of the Week

Drennen Atherton – Norwich University
(Senior, Goaltender – Winter Haven, Fla.)

Atherton followed up a stellar week last week with shutting down UMass Boston and JWU. He didn't allow a goal all weekend until 17:41 of the 3rd against JWU. Atherton finished the week with 36 saves, a .973 SV%, a .50 GAA and two wins for the Cadets.

Rookie of the Week

 

Johnny Johnson – Norwich University
(Freshman, Forward – Napierville, Ill.)

Johnson posted a career-high four points against JWU which included a team-leading fifth power play goal along with three assists en route to a 7-1 victory over the Wildcats.

Honor Roll

Cole Ouellette – University of Southern Maine
(Junior, Defense – Lewiston, Maine)
Ouellette tallied three points for the Huskies in a 4-3 win over Elmira. The defenseman scored a goal and assisted on two others to help Southern Maine to a conference victory.

Damon Beaver - Hobart College
(Freshman, Goaltender – Whitby, Ont.)
Beaver picked up his fourth shutout of the season on Friday night. He stopped all 21 shots he faced as he picked up his eighth win of the season. Beaver added an assist on Hobart's third goal of the game. Beaver is 8-1- on the season with a .965 save percentage and a .78 GAA. His four shutouts match a Hobart single-season record.

Manny Cabral – New England College
(Freshman, Forward – Providence, R.I.)
Cabral continued his brilliant rookie season, scoring a power play goal and adding two assists as the Pilgrims went 1-1 in conference play this weekend. Up next for NEC, the 'Grims look to bounce back when they travel to Castleton on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. NEHC contest.
