Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, January 28. Norwich University's Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) earned Player of the Week recognition while University of New England's Caty Flagg (metheun, Mass.) was named Goaltender of the Week. Casey Traill (South Shields, England) was recognized as the league's Rookie of the Week

Player of the Week
Amanda Conway – Norwich University
(Sophomore, Forward– Methuen, Mass.)

player Conway scored three goals and had an assist to lead Norwich to two victories over UMass Boston and Salve Regina over the weekend. Conway scored twice vs. UMass Boston in a 7-0 dominant win over the No. 2 team in the standings. She also had a goal and an assist vs. Salve Regina in a 5-0 win on Saturday.

Goaltender of the Week
Caty Flagg – University of New England
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Methuen, Mass.)

player Flagg helped lead UNE to a 1-0-1 week for a crucial three points in the NEHC standings. In Friday's 1-1 tie against NEC the sophomore turned aside 21 shots, including four in overtime to secure the point for the Nor'easters. She followed that with an impressive 44 save performance in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Plymouth State.

Rookie of the Week
Casey Traill – Castleton University
(Freshman, Defense – South Shields, England)

player Traill recorded a pair of assists from the blue line during a 1-1 week for Castleton. On Friday Traill assisted on the game-winning goal over Salve Regina. Following on Saturday against UMass Boston, the freshman notched a helper on the original equalizer. Part of a shorthanded defensive squad, which saw just four defenders in the lineup on Saturday, Traill was responsible for several blocked shots and stingy defense, which kept the game close throughout.



Honor Roll

Annie Mullen – University of New England
(Senior, Forward– Concord, N.H.)

Mullen notched two goals as UNE went 1-0-1 on the week. She recorded the game-tying goal in Friday's contest against NEC to help secure a point for UNE in the NEHC standings. She followed that by opening the scoring in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Plymouth State.

Shannon Colbert – University of Southern Maine
(Freshman, Forward – Manomet, Mass.)

Colbert scored the Huskies first goal and assisted on the game-winning overtime tally as USM defeated New England College 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
