Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, January 14. The duo of Brittany Tierney (Ottawa, Ont.) and Meghan Moore (Centerville, Mass.) of New England College earned Player and Rookie of the Week honors respectively. Castleton University's Alexis Kalm (Aberdeen, N.C.) was recognized as Goaltender of the Week for the second straight week.

Player of the Week
Brittany Tierney – New England College
(Sophomore, Forward– Ottawa, Ont.)

player Tierney scored twice in NEC's 4-2 win over Salem State on Saturday. She netted the second goal of the contest with time winding down in the first period. She also notched the eventual game-winner halfway through the second to give the Pilgrims a 3-0 lead at the time. The sophomore has a team-leading five goals this season.

Goaltender of the Week
Alexis Kalm - Castleton University
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Aberdeen, N.C.)

player Kalm continued dominating between the pipes, making 36 saves against Morrisville State in a 1-0 Castleton win. The sophomore now has 82 saves in her last 83 shots faced, which converts to a .988 save percentage. Kalm was lights out in the third period, fending off 14 opposing shots to keep the score in favor of the Spartans.

Rookie of the Week
Meghan Moore – New England College
(Freshman, Forward – Centerville, Mass.)

player Moore had a breakout game for NEC on Saturday, tallying the first three points of her career with a goal and two assists in the team's 4-2 win over Salem State. Moore opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 12 minutes into the first period. She then assisted on both of Tierney's goals to secure the Pilgrims' victory.



Honor Roll

Alyssa DePippo – UMass Boston
(Junior, Goaltender –Pittsburgh, Pa.)

Depippo recorded a career-high 42 saves in a 1-1 tie with Stevenson University in a huge non-conference draw. The junior made a career-high 18 saves in the second period to earn First Star honors on the contest. In the five-minute overtime period she prevented the Mustangs from getting the win after making a total of nine stops.

Caty Flagg – University of New England
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Methuen Mass.)

Flagg helped guide the Nor'easters to a 1-1 week. The sophomore goaltender recorded 46 saves in a 1-0 loss to Colby on Tuesday. She followed that performance with 25 saves in the team's 3-1 win over Nichols.

Britney Evangelista – University of Southern Maine
(Junior, Goaltender – North Smithfield, R.I.)

Evangelista went 1-1 during the week compiling a 2.00 goals against average and a .959 save percentage. She stopped a career-high 58 shots in a 4-0 loss at Amherst on Tuesday, and then made 35 saves in a 1-0 victory at Becker for her fourth career shutout.
