Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, February 19. Saint Anselm College's Kaitlyn Spillane (Franklin, Mass.) was named Player of the Week. Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.) of Nichols College and Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) of Norwich University were named Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.

Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Spillane – Saint Anselm College
(Junior, Forward– Franklin, Mass.)

player Spillane tallied five goals and an assist for Saint Anselm in a pair of wins as the Hawks clinched the NEHC regular season title. The junior netted the first hat trick of her career in a 7-3 win at Holy Cross on Thursday and added two goals and an assist in a 6-0 victory at Southern Maine on Saturday.

Goaltender of the Week
Cassandra Goyette – Nichols College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Norton, Mass.)

player On Friday, Goyette stood on her head to the tune of 61 saves against an 18-win UMass Boston team. The Bison nearly came away with a win, leading 1-0 in the third period before the Beacons forced overtime and eventually skated away with the win. Goyette had another huge game on Saturday on Senior Day for the Bison. Doing everything she could to help the seniors go out winners, Goyette made 57 saves against Castleton, ultimately falling short in her efforts. Her 44.8 saves per game lead the NEHC, while her 717 saves rank second.

Rookie of the Week
Amanda Conway – Norwich University
(Freshman, Forward – Methuen, Mass.)

player Conway had one of the best single weekend performances in program history as she tallied a hat trick in both wins over New England College (7-2) and Plymouth State (6-1). She scored her first collegiate hat trick in Friday's win over NEC, and then she followed up with four goals vs. Plymouth State, becoming the sixth player in program history to accomplish the feat.



Honor Roll

Sam Girard – College of the Holy Cross
(Sophomore, Forward – Dedham, Mass.)

Girard led the Crusaders on the weekend with five points, as Holy Cross split its last set of home games, 1-1. Girard tallied three points on two goals and an assist in a loss to St. Anselm, before leading Holy Cross with two goals, as they shutout Franklin Pierce, 3-0.

Sarah Sinning – Manhattanville College
(Junior, Forward– Southold, N.Y.)

Sinning recorded her first career hat trick with three goals against Salve Regina. She also added an assist against UMass Boston for four points on the week.

Kim Tiberi – Norwich University
(Senior, Defense – Raleigh, N.C.)

Tiberi scored four goals as a defenseman on Friday in a 7-2 victory over New England College. She scored the game-tying goal to even the contest 2-2 after NEC took a 2-1 lead. She led Norwich with 16 shots on goal on the weekend and also finished a +4 plus/minus rating on the weekend. She became just the fifth player in program history to score four goals in a game.

Rachel Peacock – UMass Boston
(Freshman, Forward– Billerica, Mass.)

Peacock had a huge three-point weekend for the Beacons as she helped them clinch the 3rd seed in the NEHC tournament. In Friday's win over Nichols she recorded a pair of assists in the 2-1-overtime victory. On Saturday, she found the back of the net in the second period to tie the game at 2-2 in the eventual 3-2 win over Manhattanville.
