Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, November 13. Norwich University's Kim Tiberi (Raleigh, N.C.) was named NEHC Player of the Week after her performance over the weekend. Rachael Brazil (Braintree, Mass.) of Castleton University earned Goaltender of the Week honors while Whitney Padgett (Eden Prairie, Minn.) of University of Southern Maine was named the league's Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week
Kim Tiberi – Norwich University
(Junior, Defense– Raleigh, N.C.)

player Tiberi had a terrific weekend, tallying a goal and three assists from defense to help lead the Cadets to a weekend sweep of Saint Anselm and Castleton. Tiberi notched two assists in a 5-2 win over previously undefeated Saint Anselm, she also scored the game-winning goal and tallied another assists in a 3-0 shut out win over Castleton. Tiberi was a +4 plus/minus rating on the weekend and she leads the team with a +7 on the season.

Goaltender of the Week
Rachael Brazil – Castleton University
(Senior, Goaltender – Braintree, Mass.)

player Brazil made two starts this week for Castleton, going 1-1-0 with 66 total saves. She picked up her first shutout of the season with 24 saves in a 2-0 win over Plymouth State on Friday, Nov. 11, before tallying a career high 42 saves in a 3-0 loss to Norwich on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Whitney Padgett – University of Southern Maine
(Freshman, Goaltender – Eden Prairie, Minn.)

player In her first collegiate appearance (and start), Padgett made 21 saves, including 11 in the third period, to lift the Huskies to their first win of the season, a 2-1 win over Salve Regina. The Huskies win over the Seahawks was their first since 2013.



Honor Roll

Michelle Holmes – Franklin Pierce University
(Senior, Forward – Goffstown, N.H)

Holmes tallied two assists and two goals in a 2-0-0 weekend for the Ravens. On Friday night against Saint Michael's the senior notched an assist. On Saturday against Nichols, she scored twice, including one power-play goal and one shorthanded goal, while also dishing out an assist.

Shannon Smith – University of New England
(Senior, Forward – Naperville, Ill.)

Smith factored in both equalizing goals against Salve Regina, including netting the tying marker with 4:24 left in the 3rd.

Tina Frasca – Saint Michael's College
(Senior, Goaltender – Norwood, Mass.)

Frasca limited the ninth-ranked team in Division III to just two goals during a 2-1 loss against UMass Boston on Saturday, when she made 43 saves, good for a .956 save percentage. The senior made 21 of her stops in a shutout third period while helping the Purple Knights keep the Beacons scoreless on seven power-play opportunities during the contest.
