Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, October 30. College of the Holy Cross', Sam Girard (Dedham, Mass.) was named the league's Player of the Week. Rachel Myette (Duxbury, Mass.) of University Massachusetts Boston was named Goaltender of the Week while Saint Anselm College's Megan Klaus (State College, Pa.) earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Player of the Week
Sam Girard College of the Holy Cross
(Sophomore, Forward Dedham, Mass.)

player Girard had two goals this weekend to help the Crusaders to a 2-0 start of the season. One of her goals was a game-winner in the second game against Sacred Heart on Sat. Oct. 29, scored with 4:31 left on the clock, to help the Crusaders overcome a 2-0 deficit in the final 6:44 of the game. Holy Cross won 3-2.

Goaltender of the Week
Rachel Myette University of Massachusetts Boston
(Junior, Goaltender Duxbury, Mass.)

player In the season opener, Myette made a total of 22 saves to lead the Beacons to a 3-1 win over Stevenson University. The junior netminder posted eight saves in the third period alone as they fended off a comeback effort from the Mustangs.

Rookie of the Week
Megan Klaus Saint Anselm College
(Freshman, Defense State College, Pa.)

player Klaus recorded an assist in her first collegiate game in Saint Anselm's 3-2 season-opening win over Franklin Pierce on Friday evening, earning an assist on the Hawks' first goal midway through the first period.



Honor Roll

Ashley Moran Saint Anselm College
(Junior, Forward Woburn, Mass.)
Moran had a goal and an assist to lead Saint Anselm to a 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce in its season opener on Friday night. She scored the Hawks' first goal midway through the first period before setting up the game-winner midway through the third.

Marisa Roth New England College
(Senior, Forward Burlington, Mass.)
Roth had a stick in both Pilgrims' goals on Friday night, scoring one and dishing out an assist on the other, as NEC fell to Oswego State 6-2.

Shannon Hickey Plymouth State University
(Junior, Forward Arlington, Mass.)
Hickey tallied two goals and one assist in Friday's 4-4 tie with Buffalo State. The junior forward was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the Buffalo State Tournament for her performance over the weekend.
