Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, January 31. Shannon Smith (Naperville, Ill.) of University of New England and Norwich University's Sarah Schwezfeier (Hingham, Mass.) were named Co-Players of the Week. Smith's teammate Sydney Helmbrecht (Grand Rapids, Minn.) earned Goaltender of the Week honors while College of the Holy Cross' Maeve Reilly (Ridgefield, Conn.) was recognized as Rookie of the Week.

Co-Players of the Week
Shannon Smith University of New England
(Junior, Forward Naperville, Ill.)

player Smith broke into scoreless games at Southern Maine and Plymouth State in the third period to register both game-winning goals for the Nor'easters. After a 1-4-1 start to the year, UNE has gone 10-1-1 since and is unbeaten in its last seven contests.

Sarah Schwenzfeier Norwich University
(Sophomore, Forward Hingham, Mass.)

player Schwenzfeier scored two game-winning goals in two victories for Norwich over the weekend over Plymouth State and UMass Boston. She scored her eighth of the season to lift the Cadets to a 4-2 victory over Plymouth State on Friday and then she scored the lone goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over UMass Boston to complete the four-point weekend. Schwenzfeier leads NU with nine goals and seven assists for 16 points.

Goaltender of the Week
Sydney Helmbrecht University of New England
(Junior, Goaltender Grand Rapids, Minn.)

player Helmbrecht posted a combined 38 saves and shutout league-opponents Southern Maine (1-0) and Plymouth State (2-0) during a four-point weekend for the Nor'easters.

Rookie of the Week
Maeve Reilly College of the Holy Cross
(Freshman, Forward Ridgefield, Conn.)

player Reilly recorded four points on the weekend for the Crusaders in a pair of victories over Castleton and Saint Michael's notching a goal and an assist in each win. Her two goals against Castleton were the first of her collegiate career.



Honor Roll

Rachel Myette University of Massachusetts Boston
(Sophomore, Goaltender Pembroke, Mass.)
Myette recorded 63 saves in the Beacons' 1-1 weekend while earning her second career shutout by posting 23 saves in her team's win over Manhattanville. On Saturday she registered 40 saves in the 1-0 loss to Norwich, holding the Cadets scoreless through two full periods after letting up a goal midway through the first frame.

Celeste Robert Norwich University
(Junior, Goaltender Rouyn-Noranda, Que.)
Robert was terrific; stopping all 24 shots she faced to backstop Norwich to a 1-0 win over UMass Boston on Saturday. Robert picked up her fifth shutout of the season and improved to 7-4-0 overall.

Jordan Roetzer Manhattanville College
(Freshman, Forward Buffalo, N.Y.)
Roetzer went off tallying five points in the Valiants' 9-0 win over Nichols. The freshman forward netted goals in the first and third period while also contributing with three assists.
