Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, February 14. Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) of Salve Regina University was named Player of the Week. College of the Holy Cross' Tessie Salatas (Laval, Que.) and Julie Matthias (Thornton, Colo.) were named Goaltender and Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week
Danielle Phalon Salve Regina University
(Senior, Forward Stoneham, Mass.)

player Phalon recorded six goals in Salve Regina's two NEHC wins, including a hat-trick against Nichols College. She also set the program record for goals in a career, breaking the previous record of 53. She now has 56 and became the second player in program history with 100 points in a career.

Goaltender of the Week
Tessie Salatas College of the Holy Cross
(Sophomore, Goaltender Laval, Que.)

player Salatas stopped 18 shots in the Crusaders' 3-2 win over UMass Boston, and 29 shots in the Crusaders' 3-2 OT victory over Saint Anselm. She is the first goaltender in team history to win her first 12 starts (12-0-0 this season).

Rookie of the Week
Julie Matthias College of the Holy Cross
(Freshman, Forward Thornton, Colo.)

player Matthias played a pivotal role in the team's win over Saint Anselm. She scored the first goal of the game for Holy Cross at 5:31 of the third with an unassisted shorthanded goal. She then nabbed the game-winning goal in overtime with a tip in front of the net. She leads the team, and is tied for second in the league with five game-winning goals. She also leads the conference with four shorthanded goals.



Honor Roll

Karsyn Baker Franklin Pierce University
(Senior, Forward Detroit, Mich.)
Tallied three goals and two assists in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens. Piled up a goal and two assists on Friday night at Plymouth State and followed that up with a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winner, at home against Manhattanville on Saturday night.

Jenny Currie University of Massachusetts Boston
(Senior, Forward Chelmsford, Mass.)
Currie recorded four goals in the Beacons' 1-1 week. The senior forward netted a pair of goals in the 5-1 win over Nichols College on Wednesday, while in Friday's loss to Holy Cross she scored both goals in the tough 3-2 loss to the Crusaders.

Alison Butler Saint Anselm College
(Junior, Forward Danvers, Mass.)
Butler helped lead the Hawks to a 1-1 mark in games this week. Butler scored four goals and added an assist in a 10-0 win for Saint Anselm over Saint Michael's. Butler wrapped up the week scoring the first goal of the game in the Hawks 3-2 setback to Holy Cross.
