Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, January 10. A trio of Norwich University Cadets led the way as Adelle Murphy (Roseu Minn.), Laurie King (Waddington, N.Y.) and Bryn Labbe (Calgary, Alta.) were named Co-Player, Co-Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively. Halle Kent (Lake Placid, N.Y.) of Saint Anselm College was named Co-Player of the Week while Lyndsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) of Nichols College was named Co-Goaltender of the Week.

Co-Players of the Week
Adelle Murphy Norwich University
(Junior, Forward Roseau Minn.)

player Murphy scored a goal and had an assist in two tough games vs. ECAC West opponents over the weekend. She had an assist on Norwich's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to No. 2 ranked Elmira. She then scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Utica on Sunday. Murphy leads the Cadets with seven goals and four assists for 11 points. She was named the First Star in the Utica game.

Halle Kent Saint Anselm College
(Senior, Defense Lake Placid, N.Y.)

player Kent helped lead the Hawks to a pair of wins over Saint Scholastica this past weekend. Kent scored a goal in a 2-0 win over the Saints on Friday night and added another tally as part of a 5-3 win on Saturday. For the weekend, Kent was a +2 on the ice.

Co-Goaltenders of the Week
Lindsay O'Connell Nichols College
(Sophomore, Goaltender Danvers, Mass.)

player Sophomore Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) came up with a huge performance to lead the Nichols College Bison to just their second win on the season. O'Connell stopped 41 shots on her way to her first career shutout. The Bison were out shot on the game 41-5 against Endicott College (7-4-2).

Laurie King Norwich University
(Sophomore, Goaltender Waddington, N.Y.)

player King was fantastic on Sunday, stopping all 27 shots she faced to pick up her fourth shutout of the season, while backstopping Norwich to a 2-0 victory over Utica. She improved her remarkable shutout streak to 241:35 consecutive minutes. She is now 4-1-0 on the year with .944 save percentage and a 1.08 goals against average.

Rookie of the Week
Bryn Labbe Norwich University
(Freshman, Forward Calgary, Alta.)

player Labbe scored a goal and added an assist to help Norwich to a 1-1 record over the weekend. Labbe scored NU's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to No. 2-ranked Elmira on Saturday. She then added an assist on Adelle Murphy's game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Utica. Labbe has five goals and four assists for nine points this season.



Honor Roll

Hannah Synnott Saint Anselm College
(Junior, Goaltender Montclair, N.J.)
Synnott backstopped the Hawks to a pair of wins over Saint Scholastica this past weekend and improved to 10-0 on the season. Synnott stopped all 22 shots she faced in her third shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over the Saints on Friday. She followed that up by stopping 20-of-23 shots in a 5-3 win on Saturday.

Mackenzie Meegan New England College
(Junior, Forward Phoenix, Ariz.)
Meegan netted one goal and dished out three assists in the Pilgrims' victory over Daniel Webster this week.

Laurie Christie Nichols College
(Sophomore, Forward Hudson, Mass.)
Christie scored the game-winning goal to lead Nichols to a 2-0 win over Endicott, beating the Gulls' goaltender glove side. The goal was Christie's team-leading third goal of the season and led the Bison to just their second win of the season.

Alexandra Karlis University of Massachusetts Boston
(Senior, Forward Denver, Colo.)
Karlis had a strong week for the Beacons as she recorded two goals in the 9th Annual Codfish Bowl Tournament. She scored the first goal of the tournament in a 3-1 win over SUNY Canton. She also added the only goal in the Beacons' 3-1 loss to Trinity College in the championship game. The senior forward was named All-Tournament team honoree for her standout play.

Karsyn Baker Franklin Pierce University
(Senior, Forward Detroit, Mich.)
Baker tallied one goal and four assists to post a five-point week as the Ravens swept a weekend series on the road at William Smith. The senior forward had a goal and two assists in Friday afternoon's 4-0 win and followed up with two more assists in Saturday's 7-0 triumph.

Shannon O'Neil Franklin Pierce University
(Junior, Goaltender Tewksbury, Mass.)
In her only start last week, O'Neil stopped all 34 shots she faced to post a shutout at William Smith on Saturday afternoon.
