Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, November 8. In an action-filled weekend the league honored nine total student-athletes for their performance on the ice. Sarah Schwenzfeier and Celeste Robert of Norwich University were named Player and Co-Goaltender of the Week. Castleton University's Jess Cameron earned Co-Goaltender of the Week while Holy Cross saw freshman Sam Girard recognized as the league's Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week
Sarah Schwenzfeier Norwich University
(Sophomore, Forward Hingham, Mass.)

player Schwenzfeier had a four-point week, scoring three goals and dishing out one assist to lead Norwich to two wins on the weekend. She scored on Friday to help the Cadets to a 3-0 win over UNE and then had a hand in all three goals in a 3-0 win over Southern Maine on Saturday, scoring twice and tallying one assist. Schwenzfeier has four goals and one assist for a team-leading five points on the season.

Co-Goaltenders of the Week
Jess Cameron Castleton University
(Senior, Goaltender Mt. Mellick, P.E.I.)

player Cameron recorded another strong week in goal for Castleton, stopping a combined 59 out of the 61 shots she faced in a pair of wins for the Spartans. In Friday's 4-1 victory over Southern Maine, Cameron recorded 24 saves for Castleton, before stopping 35 shots in a 2-1 win over the University of New England on Saturday. Cameron posted an overall save percentage of .967 on the week with a 1.00 goals-against average.

Celeste Robert Norwich University
(Junior, Goaltender Rouyn-Noranda, Que.)

player Robert picked up back-to-back shutouts on the weekend, making 15 saves vs. UNE and 14 saves vs. Southern Maine to backstop the Cadets to two 3-0 victories to open NEHC play. Robert has 1.19 goals against average and a .951 save percentage in four appearances so far this season.

Rookie of the Week
Sam Girard College of the Holy Cross
(Freshman, Forward Dedham, Mass.)

player Girard scored three goals over the weekend to guide Holy Cross to a 2-0-0 weekend as they opened NEHC play. The freshman forward netted two goals in the Crusdaers' win over Manhattanville with one score coming on the power-play. She followed that performance by scoring the game winner in Sunday's win over Salve Regina University.



Honor Roll

Lindsey Powers New England College
(Freshman, Goaltender Stittsville, Ont.)

Powers totaled 98 saves over two games this weekend and finished with a .937 save percentage for the week. The freshman netminder had a 53 save performance in NEC's loss to UMass-Boston on Friday night and followed that with a 45 save performance in NEC's loss to Franklin Pierce on Saturday.

Danielle Phalon Salve Regina University
(Senior, Forward Stoneham, Mass.)

Phalon scored four goals in the Seahawks' 6-0 victory over Nichols on November 7. The four goals tie a single-game program record. Phalon also added a goal and an assist in Salve Regina's 5-3 loss to Holy Cross on Sunday.

Noelle White Franklin Pierce University
(Junior, Goaltender Corona, Calif.)

White stopped all 20 shots she faced to a post a shutout victory at New England College on Saturday.

Abby Burke Saint Michael's College
(Junior, Goaltender Bedford, Mass.)

Burke turned in a 1.50 GAA and a .956 save percentage during a 1-1 week, averaging 32.5 saves for the Purple Knights. After making 19 stops to blank Plymouth State, 2-0, on Friday, Burke recorded 46 saves against Saint Anselm in a 3-0 loss on Saturday, with only the first goal coming at even strength. The last two goals were power-play markers.

Lizzie Aveson University of Massachusetts Boston
(Junior, Forward West Covina, Calif.)
Aveson recorded one of her best weekends ever as a Beacon as she tallied one goal and two assists in a 1-1 weekend for UMB. In Friday's 2-0 win over NEC, she assisted on both scores to lead the Beacons to their first-ever NEHC win and the first win the Lindsay Berman era. In Saturday's loss at Plymouth State she scored the lone tally in the 3-1 contest.
