Women's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's weekly awards were announced for play through Sunday, November 15. Sam Pion and Jess Cameron of Castleton University were named Co-Player and Goaltender of the Week. Salve Regina University's Danielle Phalon was recognized as the league's other Co-Player of the week. The freshman duo of Emelie Lindqvist of Plymouth State University and University of Southern Maine's Britney Evangelista were recognized as league Co-Rookies of the Week.

Co-Players of the Week
Sam Pion - Castleton University
(Senior, Defense Easthampton, Mass.)

player Pion had a stellar week for the Spartans, scoring four goals in the span of two wins for Castleton. On Friday evening against Franklin Pierce, Pion scored a pair of goals, including the game winner, in a 3-2 win. On Saturday, the senior came back with another two-goal game, helping the Spartans to an 8-0 win over Nichols. Pion recorded a +5 mark on the week in the wins.

Danielle Phalon Salve Regina University
(Senior, Forward Stoneham, Mass.)

player Phalon registered five points in two victories for the Seahawks. In Friday's 5-1 win over conference foe Manhattanville, Phalon netted two goals and added an assist. She followed that performance up with a goal and an assist vs. New England College as the Seahawks registered their third shutout on the season.

Goaltender of the Week
Jess Cameron Castleton University
(Senior, Goaltender Mt. Mellick, P.E.I.)

player Cameron picked up a pair of wins this week, helping lead the Spartans to a school-record 6-0 start to the season. The senior tallied 37 saves on the week, with a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .949. In Castleton's 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce on Friday evening, Cameron made 31 saves. Cameron followed that performance up with two shutout periods in Saturday's 8-0 win over Nichols.

Co-Rookies of the Week
Emelie Lindqvist Plymouth State University
(Freshman, Goaltender Gullerasen, Sweden)

player Lindqvist posted a 1-1 record with a 2.75 goals against average and a .914 save percentage this weekend for the Panthers. The freshman netminder made 27 saves in a 3-2 overtime win over UNE on Friday, and made 26 saves on 29 shots in 46 minutes off the bench in a 4-1 loss to nationally-ranked Norwich.

Britney Evangelista University of Southern Maine
(Freshman, Goaltender North Smithfield R.I.)

player In her first collegiate start, Evangelista stopped 33 shots for a 3-0 shutout win over Saint Michael's College. The next afternoon, Evangelista made 30 saves in a losing effort against undefeated Saint Anselm.



Honor Roll

Shannon O'Neil Franklin Pierce University
(Junior, Goaltender Tewksbury, Mass.)

O'Neil logged both games in net for the Ravens last week. On Friday at Castleton, she made 22 saves against 25 shots in a 3-2 loss. On Saturday against Holy Cross, the junior piled up a program-record 44 saves against 45 shots in a 2-1 win. For the week, she finished with 66 saves against 70 shots (.943 save percentage) and a 2.03 goals-against average.

Sarah Sinning Manhattanville College
(Sophomore, Forward Southold N.Y.)

Sinning recorded three points on the weekend (2 goals 1 assist) for the Valiants. The sophomore notched an assist on Manhattanville's lone goal in a loss to Salve Regina on Friday while also registering a team-high seven shots on goal. In Saturday's contest she scored two goals, including the game-winner against UMass Boston.

Martha Findley Saint Anselm College
(Junior, Defense Duxbury, Mass.)

Findley recorded four points in a 2-0-0 weekend for Saint Anselm. The junior defender registered two assists in the Hawks' win over conference rival Holy Cross on Friday. In Saturday's victory over Southern Maine she added another pair of assists, including the helper on the game winner.

Cassandra Goyette Nichols College
(Freshman, Goaltender Norton, Mass.)

Goyette registered 56 saves in the Bison's loss to UMass Boston on Friday. The 56 saves follow last weekend's 72-save performance by the young netminder. In just over 59 minutes of action Goyette notched a 0.966 save percentage while only surrendering two goals to the Beacons.

Maki Shuchuk Norwich University
(Sophomore, Forward Madison, Wis.)

Shuchuk tallied three points on the weekend, scoring a goal in each game and tallying one assist to lead Norwich to two more NEHC victories over Southern Maine and Plymouth State. Shuchuk scored a goal and an assist in a 6-0 win over NEC and then added another goal in a 4-1 win over Plymouth State.
