Weekly Honors



MARSHFIELD, Mass. - The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, December 1. The Skidmore College duo of Matt Muzyka (Cheshire, Conn.) and David Poirier (Green Valley, Ont.) were tabbed Player and Rookie of the Week respectively. Babson College's Brad Arvanitis (Holliston, Mass.) earned Goaltender of the Week honors.

Player of the Week
Matt Muzyka - Skidmore College
(Senior, Forward - Cheshire, Conn.)

player Muzyka earned a spot on the Skidmore Invitational All-Tournament team with four points (2-2--4). The senior forward had a goal and two assists in a 5-2 win over Brockport and followed with a goal in the 4-2 championship game win against Tufts.

Goaltender of the Week
Brad Arvanitis - Babson College
(Junior, Goaltender - Holliston, Mass.)

player Arvanitis made a career-high 41 saves to record his first collegiate victory and shutout as Babson knocked off 14th-ranked Williams 5-0 on Saturday. He stopped 20 shots in the third period to help the Beavers record just their second shutout since the start of last season.

Rookie of the Week
David Poirier - Skidmore College
(Freshman, Defense - Green Valley, Ont.)

player Poirier recorded three points on two assists and a goal for the Thoroughbreds in two wins this weekend. He started the weekend with two assists in a win over Brockport and followed that with a goal in a 4-2 win over Tufts in the Skidmore Invitational Championship game.



Honor Roll

Brandon Kasel - Skidmore College
(Senior, Goaltender - Ithaca, N.Y.)

Kasel was named the Skidmore Invitational MVP after leading the Thoroughbreds to the tournament title. He stopped 31 shots, including 13 in the third period in a 5-2 win over Brockport. He then came back the next day with another big third period in a 4-2 win against Tufts in the championship game. He had 15 of his 32 stops in the final period.

Coby Downs - Norwich University
(Senior, Forward - Montclair, Calif.)

Downs had a hand in four of the six goals Norwich scored on the weekend, including netting his first collegiate hat trick to lead the Cadets to a third-place finish at the PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut. Downs was named to the All-Tournament team after scoring three goals in a 5-1 win over host Plattsburgh State. He also assisted on Norwich's goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to Middlebury.
