Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, January 28. Kevin Salvucci (Plymouth, Mass.) of Norwich University earned Player of the Week honors while Alexander Connal (Simsbury, Conn.) of Hobart College was named Goaltender of the Week. Skidmore College's Brandon Borges (Providence, R.I.) was recognized as league Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week
Kevin Salvucci – Norwich University
(Senior, Forward – Plymouth, Mass.)

player Salvucci scored his second career hat trick, including the eventual game-winning goal to lead Norwich to a huge 5-3 win over second-place Babson on Friday. He also tallied an assist in Saturday's 5-4 win over UMass Boston on Saturday to help the Cadets sweep the weekend and affirm their status on top of the league standings.

Goaltender of the Week
Alexander Connal - Hobart College
(Senior, Goaltender – Simsbury, Conn.)

player Connal played 119:53 allowing no goals and stopping all 37 shots he faced in two NEHC victories in The Cooler. He earned his first career shutout stopping all 21 shots he faced in a 2-0 win over New England College on Friday night. On Saturday, Connal made 16 saves in a 4-0 win over Southern Maine. He is sporting a 1.58 goals against average and a .936 save percentage this year and is currently riding a span of 155:07 without allowing a goal.

Rookie of the Week
Brandon Borges - Skidmore College
(Freshman, Forward – Providence, R.I.)

player Borges notched four points on the weekend for Skidmore to help guide the Thoroughbreds to their first NEHC weekend sweep of the season. He recorded two goals and added an assist in a 5-2 win over NEC. He also posted an assist on the game-winning tally in Friday's 2-1 win over Southern Maine.



Honor Roll

Nick Albano – UMass Boston
(Freshman, Defense– Beverly, Mass.)

Albano tied for the team lead with four points on the weekend, to help UMass Boston earn a weekend split. He posted one goal and three assists in two conference games. On Friday night, he recorded a pair of assists in a win over Castleton University. He tacked on a goal and an assist in the Beacons' 5-4 loss to Norwich on Saturday.

Brandon Kasel – Skidmore College
(Sophomore, Goaltender– Ithaca, N.Y.)

Kasel led the Thoroughbreds to its first league weekend sweep of the season. In two games he had a 1.50 GAA and .950 save percentage. The sophomore netminder stopped 27 shots, including 13 in the third period of a 2-1 win over Southern Maine and had 30 saves in a 5-2 win over NEC.

Matt McMorrow – Babson College
(Senior, Forward– Pearl River, N.Y.)

McMorrow continued his strong play with two goals and one assist for three points in games against Norwich and Castleton. He scored the opening goal and then assisted on the game-tying tally in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Cadets, and then chipped in with an empty net goal to clinch Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Spartans.
