Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, January 21. New England College teammates Connor Fries (Barnstable, Mass.) and Kyle Shapiro (Ocean Township, N.J.) earned Player and Goaltender of the Week accolades respectively. Andrew Longo (Morristown, N.J.) was recognized as the league's Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week
Connor Fries – New England College
(Junior, Forward – Barnstable, Mass.)

player Fries tallied three goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Pilgrims. He scored the first NEC goal and had an assist in the team's 5-3 win over Babson on Friday before scoring twice in NEC's 6-3 win over #6/8 UMass Boston.

Goaltender of the Week
Kyle Shapiro – New England College
(Senior, Goaltender – Ocean Township, N.J.)

player Shapiro was crucial in both games for NEC as the Pilgrims went 2-0 in NEHC play over the weekend. The senior netminder turned aside 39 shots, including 19 in the second period, to record the win against Babson on Friday night. He followed that performance with 40 saves against nationally-ranked UMass Boston on Saturday as NEC earned the 6-3 victory and four points in league standings.

Rookie of the Week
Andrew Longo – Hobart College
(First Year, Forward – Morristown, N.J.)

player Longo led the Statesmen with five points on two goals and three assists in a 2-0-0 NEHC road weekend. He produced a season-high four points on a goal and three assists in a 9-1 victory at Castleton on Friday. In a 4-1 win at Norwich on Saturday, Longo scored Hobart's first goal of the game. He has registered four goals and three assists for seven points in four games this season.



Honor Roll

Bryan Botcher – Babson College
(Junior, Goaltender– Mequon, Wis.)

Making just his second start since returning from injury, Botcher turned away all 33 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the year in Babson's 2-0 win over Southern Maine on Saturday. The junior netminder came up with 16 third-period saves, eight of which came over the final four minutes, to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Ryan Boucher – Norwich University
(Freshman, Forward– Fitchburg, Mass.)

Boucher had a breakout offensive week, scoring a goal and adding four assists for five of his six points on the season. Boucher tallied a point in every game, including three primary assists. He also scored his first collegiate goal to help lead the Cadets to a 4-2 win over Skidmore. He finished as a +3 plus minus rating on the week.
