Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, December 10. The Hobart College duo of Jonas Toupal (Vcelna, Czech Republic) and Alexander Connal (Simsbury, Conn.) earned Player and Goaltender of the Week honors respectively. Coby Downs (Montclair, Calif.) of Norwich University was recognized as Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week
Jonas Toupal – Hobart College
(Junior, Forward – Vcelna, Czech Republic)

player Toupal helped lead Hobart College to a win and tie against No. 3 nationally ranked Trinity College in nonconference action over the weekend. In Friday's come-from-behind win over the Bantams he notched the game-tying goal for the Statesmen in the beginning of the third period. The junior forward logged a +1 rating in both games and also notched 11 shots.

Goaltender of the Week
Alexander Connal – Hobart College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Simsbury, Conn.)

player Connal made a season-high 34 saves in a 3-2 win over then No. 3 Trinity College on Friday night, improving to 4-1-1 this season. Connal is sporting a 1.81 goals against average and a .931 save percentage this season. He ranks second in the NEHC in goals against average, save percentage and win percentage (.931).

Rookie of the Week
Coby Downs – Norwich University
(Freshman, Forward – Montclair, Calif.)

player Downs tallied three points in Norwich's only game of the week; scoring a goal and notching two assists for three points in a 4-1 win over Castleton University. He scored NU's first goal and then had the primary assist on the game-winning goal as the Cadets swept the season series from CU. He finished a +2 plus-minus rating and led Norwich with five shots on goal. He leads the team with 11 points this season.



Honor Roll

Travis Schneider - Hobart College
(Freshman, Forward– Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.)

Schneider logged a goal and an assist in a 1-0-1 weekend for Hobart at then No. 3 Trinity (Conn.). He earned an assist on Hobart's first goal in a 3-2 win on Friday night. Schneider scored the Statesmen's second goal, tying the game up at 2-2 early in the third period in what proved to be a 3-3 tie on Saturday evening.

Braeden Ostepchuk – Norwich University
(Senior, Goaltender – Lethbridge, Alta.)

Ostepchuk made 22 saves on 23 shots to backstop Norwich to a 4-1 win over Castleton on Friday night. He improved to 5-3-1 on the season. He leads the NEHC in save percentage .950 and goals against average with a 1.28 GAA.
