Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 26. Colin Larkin (Waterford, Mich.) and Bailey MacBurnie (Beverly, Mass.) of UMass Boston were recognized as Player and Goaltender of the Week respectively. Castleton University's Matt Bloomer (Rochester, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Player of the Week
Colin Larkin – UMass Boston
(Senior, Forward – Waterford, Mich.)

player Larkin recorded a team-high three goals and tied for the team-lead with five total points, to help #9/12 UMass Boston win the Bowdoin/Colby Classic. The senior recorded one goal and one assist against Colby on Saturday, before tacking on two goals and an assist in Sunday's Championship win over Bowdoin. With his huge weekend, he moved up from 10th to sixth in program history for career points (120).

Goaltender of the Week
Bailey MacBurnie – UMass Boston
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Beverly, Mass.)

player MacBurnie stopped 61 of 62 shots to earn Tournament MVP honors at the Bowdoin/Colby Classic. The sophomore stopped 35 of 36 shots in a 5-1 win over Colby on Saturday, before posting 26 saves in a 4-0 shutout win over Bowdoin on Sunday. Through eight starts, MacBurnie is 8-0-0 with a .950 save percentage and 1.25 goals against average.

Rookie of the Week
Matt Bloomer – Castleton University
(Freshman, Defense – Rochester, N.Y.)

player Bloomer had a strong weekend as he tallied two goals and two assists to lead the Spartans to a 2-0 mark. He netted the Spartans' first goal early and added an assist on the game-winning goal with 11 seconds left in regulation to edge King's College, 3-2, on Friday. The freshman followed that by adding an assist and scoring the game-tying goal on Saturday to lead his team to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Brockport. The win notched the Spartans' first host tournament title since 2012. Bloomer's four-point weekend earned him MVP honors of the tournament.



Honor Roll

Joe Osaka – New England College
(Junior, Forward– Tokyo, Japan)

Osaka had a big week for NEC, tallying four points on three goals and an assist in a 2-0 week. He tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over Becker on Tuesday before scoring twice in a 6-1 win over Wentworth on Saturday.

Zach Bross – UMass Boston
(Freshman, Forward – St. Louis, Mo.)

Bross scored a goal in both games and tied for the team-high with five points, to help UMass Boston take home the Bowdoin/Colby Classic Title. He recorded a goal and assist against host Colby on Saturday, before tacking on a goal and two assists in Sunday's win over Bowdoin. Bross leads all of Division III in points (19) and assists (14).
