Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 12. A trio of Norwich Cadets was recognized in Kevin Salvucci (Plymouth, Mass.), Braeden Ostepchuk (Lethbridge, Alta.) and Coby Downs (Montclair, Calif.) who earned Co-Player, Co-Goaltender and Rookie of the Week honors respectively. Colin Larkin (Waterford, Mich.) of UMass Boston was also recognized as a Co-Player of the Week while Babson College's Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.) earned Co-Goaltender of the week accolades.

Players of the Week
Colin Larkin UMass Boston
(Senior, Forward Waterford, Mich.)

player Larkin recorded a team-high four points on the weekend to lead UMass Boston to a 2-0 mark in NEHC play. He netted a pair of goals and added two assists on Saturday, to lead the Beacons past host New England College 5-4. Larkin scored the game-tying and go-ahead goal in the win and then added an assist on the game-winner. With his four points, he moved into a tie for 10th-place in program history with 113 career points.

Kevin Salvucci Norwich University
(Senior, Forward Plymouth, Mass.)

player Salvucci scored two goals and added two assists for four points to lead the Cadets to a three-point weekend. Salvucci scored two goals and had an assist in a 4-0 shut out win over Skidmore. He also tallied an assist vs. Hobart in a 2-2 tie vs. the top-10 ranked Statesmen. He is tied for the team lead with two goals and five assists for seven points.

Goaltenders of the Week
Matt Pompa Babson College
(Junior, Goaltender Palm City, Fla.)

player Pompa was superb in two starts stopping 49 of 50 shots for a .980 save percentage to go along with a 0.50 goals against average in Babson's weekend road sweep. The junior netminder made 26 saves in Friday's 3-1 win at New England College and then turned away all 23 shots to record his sixth career shutout in a 4-0 victory at Southern Maine on Saturday.

Braeden Ostepchuk Norwich University
(Senior, Goaltender Lethbridge, Alta.)

player Ostepchuk continued his impressive start to the season, making 53 of 55 saves to lead the Cadets to a 1-0-1 record on the week. He picked up his 11th career shutout and the second of the season with 24 saves vs. Skidmore on Friday. He then made 29 of 31 stops while the Cadets were out shot in a 2-2 tie vs. Hobart.

Rookie of the Week
Coby Downs Norwich University
(Freshman, Forward Montclair, Calif.)

player Downs continued his impressive start to his rookie season, scoring two goals and notching two assists for four points to lead the Cadets to a 1-0-1 week. Downs had a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win over Skidmore on Friday. He added a goal in Saturday's 2-2 vs. top-10 ranked Hobart. Downs had four goals and three assists for seven points this season to tie for the team lead.



Honor Roll

Cooper Norton Babson College
(Freshman, Forward Williston, Vt.)

Norton picked up the first points of his collegiate career and recorded Babson's first hat trick since 2010 in Saturday's 4-0 win at Southern Maine. The first-year forward scored midway through the second period and then added a pair of goals early in the third to put the game away.

Mike Faulkner - Hobart College
(Freshman, Defense Bronx, N.Y.)

Faulkner led Hobart with three points on a goal and two assists in a 1-0-1 NEHC weekend. He earned an assist in a 6-1 victory over Castleton on Friday night. Faulkner registered Hobart's first goal and assisted on the game-tying goal in a 2-2 draw with No. 3/4 Norwich on Saturday. Faulkner leads the Statesmen with nine points on two goals and seven assists this season.
