Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, October 29. Teammates Colin Larkin (Waterford, Mich.) and Nick Albano (Beverly, Mass.) of UMass Boston earned Player and Rookie of the Week accolades respectively after combining for 13 points in the Beacons' 2-0 opening weekend. Christoffer Sjoo (Stockholm, Sweden) of New England College and Alexander Connel (Simsburry, Conn.) of Hobart College earned Co-Goaltender of the Week honors after impressive debuts in net.

Player of the Week
Colin Larkin, UMass Boston
(Senior, Forward – Waterford, Mich.)

player Larkin recorded a team-best seven points in a pair of wins over Wentworth and Curry. The senior opened the year with the eventual game-winning goal and three assists in a 9-2 thrashing over the Leopards. On Saturday, he recorded his third collegiate hat trick in a 6-1 win over the Colonels. For the weekend, he finished +7 and moved into 13th place in program history with his 109 career points.

Co-Goaltenders of the Week
Christoffer Sjoo – New England College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Stockholm, Sweden)

player In his season debut Sjoo notched 18 saves to record his first career shutout in just his second career start as the Pilgrims picked up their first win on the season against Bryn Athyn College.

Alexander Connal – Hobart College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Simsbury, Conn.)

player Connal played all 60:52 in goal, stopped 18 shots and only allowed one goal in a 2-1 overtime win over No. 7 Oswego State on Sunday afternoon. It was his first start this season.

Rookie of the Week
Nick Albano – UMass Boston
(Freshman, Defense – Beverly, Mass.)

player Albano recorded a team-best five assists and finished with six total points and a +6 rating to help UMass Boston skate to a 2-0 weekend. Albano opened his collegiate career by tying for the team-high with three assists and four total points. He tacked on two more assists on Saturday, including a helper on the eventual game-winning goal.



Honor Roll

Jonas Toupal – Hobart College
(Junior, Forward– Vcelna, Czech Republic.)

Toupal scored both of Hobart's goals in a 2-1 OT win over No. 7 Oswego State on Sunday afternoon. He scored his first goal on a power play 1:29 into the second period and added the game winner just 52 seconds into overtime.

Caleb Fizer – Castleton University
(Junior, Forward – Sarasota, Fla.)

Fizer had a big opening night for Castleton as he tallied a career-high three points on a goal and two assists to help lead the Spartans to a 7-2 victory over Wentworth on Saturday.
