Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, January 8. The duo of Colin Larkin (Waterford, Mich.) and Ryan Cusin (Detroit. Mich.) of University of Massachusetts Boston earned Player and Rookie of the Week distinction respectively. Babson College's Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.) was recognized as Goaltender of the Week.

Player of the Week
Colin Larkin – University of Massachusetts Boston
(Junior, Forward – Waterford, Mich.)

player Larkin paced the Beacons with four goals and six points in a 1-1 conference weekend. The junior went off for a career-high four goals and five points in Friday night's 5-2 win over St. Anselm College. He added an assist in Saturday's 2-1 loss to New England College. On the season, he leads the NEHC in goals (16), power-play goals (7) and game-winning goals (5).

Goaltender of the Week
Matt Pompa – Babson College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Palm City, Fla.)

player Pompa stopped all 32 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season as Babson stopped a four-game skid with a 3-0 win over New England College on Friday night. The sophomore netminder made 27 saves over the first two periods and lowered his goals against average to 1.72 on the year with his fourth career shutout.

Rookie of the Week
Ryan Cusin – University of Massachusetts Boston
(Freshman, Forward– Detroit, Mich.)

player Cusin put together another big weekend for the Beacons with two goals and three assists in two conference games. The freshman posted a team-best three assists and added a goal in Friday night's 5-2 win over St. Anselm College. On Saturday, he scored the Beacons' lone goal to extend his point-streak to nine in a row.



Honor Roll

Kevin Salvucci – Norwich University
(Junior, Forward– Plymouth, Mass.)

Salvucci was involved in five of the Cadets' eight goals in the victory against nonconference opponent SUNY Plattsburgh. The junior forward had four helpers and one goal on the day. His goal came unassisted halfway through the second period as Norwich jumped out to a 5-1 lead.

Mike Ferraro – Saint Anselm College
(Freshman, Forward – Northbridge, Mass.)

Ferraro scored the game-winning goal with 2:02 remaining in regulation to give Saint Anselm a 2-1 victory at Babson on Saturday. The game-winner was the second in a week for the freshman and was his fifth goal this season.

Otis Goldman – Castleton University
(Freshman, Forward – Vancouver, B.C.)

Goldman had a strong weekend as the Spartans got back in the win column, notching three points on two goals and one assist. The rookie had his career-best game on Friday night in a 6-1 win over Daniel Webster, recording one goal and one assist. On Saturday, Goldman continued his stellar play, netting the game-winning goal in a 5-4 victory over NEHC foe Southern Maine.
