Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, January 22. Cody Smith (Hudson, Mass.) of Norwich University was selected as Player of the Week. Castleton University's Ryan Mulder (Ottawa, Ont.) and University of Massachusetts Boston's Nolan Redler (Winchester, Mass.) earned Goaltender and Rookie of the Week recognition respectively.

Player of the Week
Cody Smith – Norwich University
(Senior, Defense – Hudson, Mass.)

player Smith had an impressive weekend, tallying four assists in both wins for Norwich for eight points in two games by a defenseman. He had a hand in all four goals in the 4-3 win over New England College and then assisted on four goals in a 6-1 win over Saint Anselm. Smith took over the team lead in points and now leads the nation in assists. Smith blocked five shots on the weekend and was a +4 plus/minus rating.

Goaltender of the Week
Ryan Mulder – Castleton University
(Junior, Goaltender – Ottawa, Ont.)

player Mulder posted his best two games of the season as Castleton extended its unbeaten streak to six games over the weekend. In a Friday night tie against Babson, Mulder allowed just two goals while make a then-season-high 30 saves. The junior followed that performance up with an even better one on Saturday, keeping a potent UMass-Boston offense scoreless through two periods in an eventual 2-2 draw. He stopped a season-high 32 shots in the game, keeping the Beacons two goals below their season average of 4.26 goals per game.

Rookie of the Week
Nolan Redler – University of Massachusetts Boston
(Freshman, Forward – Winchester, Mass.)

player Redler posted a team-high four goals and six points to help UMass Boston earn a pair of road results against conference foes. On Friday night, Redler netted his first collegiate hat trick and added two assists in a 7-2 win over Skidmore College. He tacked on the game-tying goal in Saturday's comeback 2-2 tie at Castleton University.



Honor Roll

Danny Divis – Saint Michael's College
(Senior, Defense– Media, Pa.)

Divis turned in four assists while going plus 1 in a 1-2 week. During a 6-3 win over Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday, he had two assists while going plus 1 on the day. He added an assist in a 2-1 loss to Saint Anselm on Friday before turning in another helper in a 4-1 loss to New England College on Saturday.

Bryce Nielsen – New England College
(Junior, Forward – Laguna Hills, Calif.)

Nielsen had three goals and an assist in a 1-1 week for the Pilgrims. He scored NEC's first goal on a power play in the team's 4-3 loss to #2 Norwich and assisted on the second goal. On Saturday against Saint Michael's, he scored half of the team's four goals, including the game-winner on the power play in the second period and an empty-netter in the third period.

Bryan Green – Saint Anselm College
(Sophomore, Forward – Weymouth, Mass.)

Green tallied three goals and one assist in two games this past week for Saint Anselm. The sophomore had a hand in all three goals, scoring the game-tying goal in the third and the game-winner 1:57 into overtime, while adding an assist in a 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce on Tuesday. He also found the back of the net in a 6-1 loss at No. 2 Norwich on Saturday.
