Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 27. Charlie Ackerman (Bradenton, Fla.) of Babson College and Connor Fries (Barnstable, Mass.) of New England College earned Co-Player of the Week honors. Fries' teammate, Carlos Fornaris (Miami, Fla.) was named NEHC Rookie of the Week. University of Southern Maine's Kyle Shaprio (Ocean, N.J.) was selected as Goaltender of the Week.

Co-Players of the Week
Charlie Ackerman – Babson College
(Junior, F/D – Bradenton, Fla.)

player Ackerman had a pair of game-winning goals and contributed one assist for three points in a 2-1 week for Babson. He assisted on the tying goal and then scored the game winner in Tuesday's 5-4 victory over UMass Dartmouth, and followed it up with another game-winning tally on Saturday as the Beavers edged Williams, 2-1.

Connor Fries – New England College
(Sophomore, Forward – Barnstable, Mass.)

player Fries had a monster week, scoring four goals and tallying an assist in a 2-0 week for the Pilgrims. He dished out an assist in the team's 8-2 win over Framingham State before exploding for a four-goal performance in the team's 6-3 victory over Wentworth. He becomes the first Pilgrim this season to record a hat trick.

Goaltender of the Week
Kyle Shapiro – University of Southern Maine
(Junior, Goaltender – Ocean, N.J.)

player In his only appearance this week, Shapiro stopped 47 of 48 shots (.979 save percentage) to backstop USM to a 2-1 win over nationally-ranked Trinity College. The junior netminder racked up an impressive 24 saves in the third stanza to keep the Bantams' explosive offense at bay.

Rookie of the Week
Carlos Fornaris – New England College
(Freshman, Forward– Miami, Fla.)

player Fornaris was instrumental in the Pilgrims' success this week as he totaled seven points on two goals and five assists. He was the team's leading points-producer in Tuesday's win over Framingham with two goals and two assists, and followed that with three assists in the team's 6-3 win over Wentworth on Saturday.



Honor Roll

Braeden Ostepchuk – Norwich University
(Junior, Goaltender– Lethbridge, Alta.)

Ostepchuk continued his recent hot streak, making 50 saves on 52 shots to backstop the Cadets to a 2-0 weekend and their ninth PrimeLink ShootOut title. He was named to the All-Tournament team and picked up his second shutout of the season with a 19-save performance in the championship vs. Concordia (Minn.). He also stopped a season-high 31 shots to help Norwich to a 3-2 overtime win over Middlebury on Friday.

Paul Léger – University of Southern Maine
(Freshman, Goaltender– Blaineville, Qué.)

Léger backstopped the Huskies to a 1-1 record over his two starts this week. The freshman netminder posted a 33-save shutout over Salem State on Tuesday to record his first victory on the season. He came back on Saturday with a 32-save performance against Wesleyan University, allowing only two goals in the losing effort.

Kevin Salvucci – Norwich University
(Junior, Forward– Plymouth, Mass.)

Salvucci was named the PrimeLink Tournament Most Valuable Player after tallying two goals and an assist for three points in two victories over Middlebury and Concordia (Minn.). Salvucci scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over Concordia (Minn.) in the championship game. He had a hand in 60% of Norwich's offense on the weekend as the Cadets claimed their record ninth PrimeLink title.
