Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 13. Babson College's Rob Devaney (Reading, Mass.) and Norwich University's Tyler Piacentini (South Weymouth, Mass.) were named Co-Players of the Week for their performances over the weekend. Shane Joyce (Pemrboke, Mass.) of Saint Anselm College earned Goaltender of the Week honors while Skidmore College's Brandon Kasel (Ithaca, N.Y.) captured his second-consecutive Rookie of the Week accolade.

Co-Players of the Week
Rob Devaney – Babson College
(Junior, Forward – Reading, Mass.)

player Devaney finished the weekend with three goals and one assist for four points as Babson opened conference play with back-to-back wins. The junior forward scored the tying goal in Friday's 2-1 victory over Skidmore and then contributed two goals and one assist as the Beavers defeated Castleton, 4-1, on Saturday.

Tyler Piacentini– Norwich University
(Senior, Forward – South Weymouth, Mass.)

player Piacentini had a huge hand in Norwich going 2-0 for the second straight week to open NEHC play. He scored three goals and an assist for four points to have a hand in 2/3rds of the goals that NU scored on the weekend. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Saint Anselm as well as had an assist on the other goal. He also scored twice in Norwich's 4-3 win over New England College on Saturday.

Goaltender of the Week
Shane Joyce – Saint Anselm College
(Junior, Goaltender – Pembroke, Mass.)

player Joyce was 2-1 on the week for Saint Anselm, saving 96 of the 100 shots he faced. The junior posted a 24-save shutout in a 4-0 win over Saint Michael's on Saturday after recording a career-high 44 saves in a 2-0 loss to Norwich on Friday night. Joyce also added a nonconference win vs. Salem State to his impressive performance over the week, notching 28 saves in the victory.

Rookie of the Week
Brandon Kasel – Skidmore College
(Freshman, Goaltender– Ithaca, N.Y.)

player Kasel had 43 saves in his second career game to beat #2 UMASS-Boston on the road, 4-2. The freshman goaltender notched 15 third period saves as the Thoroughbreds killed off two late penalties.



Honor Roll

Anthony Bird – Skidmore College
(Senior, Forward – Central Square, N.Y.)

Bird had a hat trick with two short-handed goals in a 4-2 win at #2 UMASS Boston. All three goals were unassisted off caused turnovers. He scored a short-handed goal 15:31 of the third for a 3-2 lead and another short-handed empty net goal to secure the win at 19:39.

Sam D'Antuono – Saint Michael's College
(Sophomore, Forward – Hingham, Mass.)

D'Antuono tallied two goals and two assists while winning 14.0 face-offs per game at a 47.2 percent (42-for-89) clip in a 1-2 week. During a 4-2 win over Assumption on Tuesday, he had a goal and two assists while going 19-for-38 on draws. D'Antuono assisted the game-winner 11:57 into the third period. In a 7-2 loss to New England College, on Friday, D'Antuono tied the game at two with a goal 13:24 into the first period, and also won 10 face-offs. During a 4-0 loss against Saint Anselm on Saturday, he was 13-for-23 at the dot, leading all players on both teams in face-off victories.

Matt Pompa – Babson College
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Palm City, Fla.)

In his only start of the week, Pompa stopped 36 of 37 shots for a .973 save percentage in a 2-1 win over Skidmore on Friday night. The sophomore netminder was superb in the third period; turning away all 20 shots he faced to collect his first victory of the season.

Colin Larkin – University of Massachusetts Boston
(Sophomore, Forward – Waterford, Mich.)

Larkin scored four goals on the weekend, including posting his first collegiate hat trick in Friday's win over Castleton University. On the weekend, he recorded two power-play goals and one game-winning goal to bring his team-leading total to five on the season.
