Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, October 30. University of Southern Maine's Jimmy Currier (Middleton, Mass.) and Kyle Shapiro (Ocean, N.J.) were selected as the league Player and Goaltender of the Week respectively. Jordan Bustard (Flanders, N.J.) of University of Massachusetts Boston was selected as the Rookie of the Week.

Player of the Week
Jimmy Currier – University of Southern Maine
(Sophomore, Forward – Middleton, Mass.)

player Currier scored both goals in USM's 2-0, season opening win over visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday. The first goal came within the first five minutes of the contest off assists from Brett Norman and Cole Klippenstein. Currier then added an insurance goal halfway through the third period to seal the victory for the Huskies. The two-goal effort was Currier's first collegiate multiple-goal game.

Goaltender of the Week
Kyle Shapiro – University of Southern Maine
(Junior, Goaltender – Ocean, N.J.)

player Shapiro opened the 2016-17 season making 21 saves to shut out Wentworth 2-0. Eight of those saves came in the final stanza as the Leopards attempted the comeback. The shutout was the second of Shapiro's career.

Rookie of the Week
Jordan Bustard – University of Massachusetts Boston
(Freshman, Goaltender– Flanders, N.J.)

player Bustard stopped 25 of 26 shots on Saturday in #3/4 UMass Boston's 5-1 win over Curry College. The freshman stopped the first 10 shots he faced and finished with 10 saves in the second stanza. He is the first Beacons freshman goalie to earn a win on Opening Day since the 2012-13 season opener.



Honor Roll

Ryan Mulder – Castleton University
(Junior, Goaltender – Ottawa, Ont.)

Mulder had a strong opening weekend for the Spartans as he tallied a 1-0-1 record between the pipes. The junior netminder stopped a total of 57 shots in two games, good for a 0.97 goals-against average and .966 save percentage. Mulder opened the season with 28 saves in a 3-1 win against Wentworth, allowing just one goal in the waning minutes when the Leopards had an extra attacker on the ice. On Saturday against SUNY Potsdam, Mulder stopped 29 shots in a 1-1, overtime draw. His only goal against in the game came less than two minutes in, as he closed the game with more than 60 minutes of shutout hockey.

Kevin Rosset – Castleton University
(Senior, Forward – Crans-Montana, Switzerland)

Rosset had a big opening weekend for the Spartans, netting the first goal in each contest as Castleton went 1-0-1 on the week. On Friday night, Rosset potted a power-play goal to give his team a 1-0 lead in an eventual 3-1 win over Wentworth, before coming back on Sunday with the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw on the road at SUNY Potsdam. The senior has a total of two points through two games, tied for the team lead.

Zach Lindsay – University of Massachusetts Boston
(Senior, Forward– Egg Harbor Township, N.J.)

Lindsay finished with a career-high three points in Saturday's season opening win over Curry College. The senior forward scored the Beacons' first goal and added assists on the third and fifth goal in the 5-1 win. He finished +1 for the day with one power-play goal on four shots.
