Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, February 7. Norwich University's Paul Russell (Andover, Mass.) and Braeden Ostepchuk (Lethbridge, Alta.) were named Player and Co-Goaltender of the Week respectively. Kyle Shaprio (Ocean, N.J.) of the University of Southern Maine was also recognized as Co-Goaltender of the Week while Skidmore College's Dennis Maier (Regensburg, Germany) was awarded Rookie of the Week honors.

Player of the Week
Paul Russell - Norwich University
(Junior, Forward – Andover, Mass.)

player Russell scored his first collegiate hat trick to lead Norwich to a 4-2 upset win over No. 8/9 UMass Boston on Saturday night. He also scored in Friday night's 5-1 win over No. 6/7 Babson for a four-goal weekend. He has now scored 12 goals and notched six assists for 18 points to rank third on the team.

Co-Goaltenders of the Week
Braeden Ostepchuk - Norwich University
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Lethbridge, Alta.)

player Ostepchuk had one of his best weekends of the season, stopping 52 of 55 shots against the high-powered Babson and UMass Boston offenses to backstop the Cadets to two upset victories over the top two teams in the NEHC standings. Ostepchuk made 24 saves vs. Babson and then added 28 more vs. UMass Boston to limit the Beacons to just two goals after they came in averaging 4.3 a game. Ostepchuk ranks in the top 10 in the nation with a 1.59 goals against average and a .932 save percentage.

Kyle Shapiro – University of Southern Maine
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Ocean, N.J.)

player Shapiro backstopped the Huskies to their first 2-0 weekend since February 2012 with wins over Saint Anselm College and New England College. Shapiro allowed one goal in each game stopping 24 shots against Saint Anselm and 30, including 15 in the third period, against NEC. For the two games, Shapiro compiled a 1.00 goals against average and a .964 save percentage.

Rookie of the Week
Dennis Maier - Skidmore College
(Freshman, Defense– Regensburg, Germany)

player Maier scored the first three collegiate goals of his career in a 1-1 weekend split with Castleton. The defender notched two goals in Friday night's win and then added another tally on the power-play in Saturday's 4-2 loss.



Honor Roll

Zach Dymock – University of Southern Maine
(Senior, Forward – Dutton, Ont.)
Dymock helped the Huskies to their first home weekend sweep since December 2011 scoring two goals and passing out three assists. Dymock had the game winning goal and one assist in the Huskies' 2-1 win over all St. Anselm that snapped a 12-game winless skid (0-11-1). The next day, he had two assists and an empty-net goal in the Huskies 4-1 victory over New England College.

Armand Uomoleale – University of New England
(Freshman, Forward – Westport, CT.)
Uomoleale had a hand in 4 of the team's 5 goals as UNE led from the start in a 5-4 win over Saint Anselm. He had three points through three goals, including his lone marker to give the Nor'easters a 2-0 lead early in the 1st.

Michael Comitini – Saint Michael's College
(Senior, Goaltender– Hudson, Que.)
Comitini averaged 40.0 saves with a .930 save percentage - all in relief - against a pair of nationally-ranked Division III teams over the weekend, yielding three goals per game. In a 5-1 loss to No. 8 UMass Boston on Friday, he entered a 3-0 game to begin the second period and stopped 40 of 41 shots in 55:03 of action. Comitini helped Saint Michael's kill two penalties in that time. During a 5-1 loss to No. 6 Babson on Saturday, Comitini entered 26 seconds into the game to turn away 40 of 45 shots in 54:24, holding the Beavers scoreless on three power plays.
