Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, January 10. Tyler Bishop (Ramsey, N.J.) of University of Massachusetts Boston and William Pelletier (St. Jean Chrysotome, Que.) of Norwich University were named Co-Players of the Week. Castleton University's Ryan Mulder (Ottawa, Ont.) was named Goaltender of the Week and University of New England's Dylan Bengston (Coral Spings, Fla.) was named Rookie of the Week.

Co-Players of the Week
Tyler Bishop – University of Massachusetts Boston
(Junior, Defense – Ramsey, N.J.)

player Bishop helped UMass Boston stay undefeated in NEHC play with a huge offensive day in the Beacons' 6-5 overtime win over New England College. The junior defenseman recorded his first collegiate hat trick, including scoring the game-winning goal, and added an assist in the 6-5 win. On Friday night, he finished +2 +/- with two shots in a 6-4 win over St. Anselm College.

William Pelletier – Norwich University
(Junior, Forward – St. Jean Chrysotome, Que.)

player Pelletier continued his remarkable hot streak, netting a hat trick and adding an assist for a four-point night in a 6-3 upset victory over No. 2-ranked Plattsburgh State. Pelletier scored all three of his goals in the third period, including two goals to break a 2-2 tie, his second proved to be the game-winning goal. He added an empty netter to seal the victory. Pelletier has tallied 13 points in the last three games. (6 goals, 7 assists)

Goaltender of the Week
Ryan Mulder – Castleton University
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Ottawa, Ont.)

player Mulder started both games in net and helped the Spartans go 1-1 this weekend. In Castleton's 2-1 loss at University of New England, the sophomore produced 39 saves with just two goals allowed and held the Nor'easters scoreless for more than 58 minutes of play. He was equally as impressive the following day, as he scored his first career goal and tallied 24 saves in the squad's 5-1 victory over Southern Maine.

Rookie of the Week
Dylan Bengston – University of New England
(Freshman, Forward – Coral Springs, Fla.)

player Bengton had a goal and two assists in wins over Castleton and Skidmore, as UNE extended its unbeaten streak to eight (7-0-1). The freshman forward set-up the game-tying goal against the Spartans with 1:50 left in regulation, before flicking home a rebound 19 seconds into overtime for the win. The following day he had his wrist shot from the point re-directed home with 2:18 left in regulation to secure a 3-2 victory against the Thoroughbreds.



Honor Roll

Brendon Kerrigan – Saint Anselm College
(Junior, Forward – Boston, Mass.)
Kerrigan scored a pair of goals in a 1-1 week for the Hawks. The junior forward scored the opening goal in the first minute of play in a 6-4 setback to #5 UMass Boston. He also scored the game-winning goal in the Hawks' 1-0 win over #4 Babson.

Chris Johnson – Saint Michael's College
(Freshman, Goaltender – Duxbury, Mass.)
Johnson made 45 saves to backstop his team to a 3-2 overtime win at Southern New Hampshire on Sunday while helping the Purple Knights hold the Penmen to an 0-for-4 showing on the power play. Johnson had 16 stops in the first period, 15 more in the second, and 14 in the third period before Saint Michael's won 1:32 into the overtime, during which the Penmen took no shots.

Fabio Kläy – Castleton University
(Freshman, Forward – Langnau, Switzerland)
Kläy scored the lone goal of the game for Castleton in Friday night's setback to UNE. He followed up that performance with a goal and two assists against Southern Maine to secure the Spartans' first conference victory on the season.
