Men's Weekly Release



MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's weekly awards were announced for games through November 22. Matt Lemire (Senior Townsend, Mass.) and Drew Gannon (Freshman Plano, Tex.) from University of Massachusetts Boston were recognized as Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively. The other Co-Player of the Week nod went to Anthony Bird (Junior Central Square, N.Y.) of Skidmore College while his teammate, Jack McDonald (Junior King City, Ont.), joined him by earning Goaltender of the Week honors.

Co-Players of the Week
Matt Lemire University of Massachusetts Boston
(Senior, Forward Townsend, Mass.)

player Lemire continued his torrid start to the season with two goals and four assists in a pair of Beacons' conference wins over the weekend. The senior finished with a goal and three assists Friday night, to help the Beacons earn an 8-3 win over UNE. On Saturday, Lemire recorded an assist and scored the game-winning goal, to help UMass Boston down Southern Maine 3-2. Lemire sits second in all of Division III with his 2.14 points per game and is tied for first or in sole possession of first in the NEHC in goals (six), assists (seven) and total points (13).

Anthony Bird Skidmore College
(Junior, Forward Central Square, N.Y.)

player Bird recorded a natural hat trick in 4-0 road win over #3 Norwich on Friday night. His first goal of the contest was short handed, only the second short-handed goal against the Cadets in the last three seasons. The junior forward also notched +2 rating in a 5-4 overtime win at St. Michael's on Saturday.

Goaltender of the Week
Jack McDonald Skidmore College
(Junior, Goaltender King City, Ont.)

player McDonald had 40 saves to shutout #3 Norwich 4-0 on Friday evening. It was the first time Norwich was shutout at Kreitzberg Arena in 58 games, dating back to 2009. McDonald had 15 saves in the third period and had 13 saves during four Norwich power plays.

Rookie of the Week
Drew Gannon University of Massachusetts Boston
(Freshman, Forward Plano, Tex.)

player Gannon recorded the first two goals of his collegiate career and added an assist, to lead UMass Boston to a 2-0-0 weekend in NEHC play. The freshman forward recorded a goal and an assist on Friday in the Beacons' 8-3 win over UNE. He tacked on a game-tying goal in Saturday's 3-2 win over Southern Maine. Gannon ranks tied for first amongst all Beacons' freshman with his five points.



Honor Roll

Dan Casey Babson College
(Junior, Forward Chatham, N.J.)

Casey continued his impressive start in league play with three goals and one assist for four points in a pair of wins over the weekend. He scored twice and added an assist in Friday's 8-0 victory over Southern Maine and then extended his scoring streak to four games with a goal in Saturday's 5-1 triumph at the University of New England.

Chris Johnson Saint Michael's College
(Freshman, Goaltender Duxbury, Mass.)

Freshman Chris Johnson posted a .921 save percentage and 2.89 GAA while going 1-1 in three games last week. In a 4-1 loss against Stonehill on Tuesday, Johnson entered in relief after the Skyhawks had scored all four of their goals, ultimately working 24:28 of shutout action while making 12 saves. He notched 42 stops in a 3-2 victory over Castleton on Friday before totaling 28 saves in a 5-4 overtime setback to Skidmore on Saturday.

Ty Reichenbach Norwich University
(Junior, Goaltender Billings, Mont.)

Reichenbach was superb once again in his lone start of the week; making 25 saves in a 2-1 win over Castleton on Saturday. The Cadets were out shot and outplayed for 55 minutes but Reichenbach's play in net allowed NU the chance at a comeback in the final five minutes. Reichenbach is 3-0-0 with a 0.85 goals against average and a .965 save percentage this season. His goals against average ranks fourth in the nation and his save percentage ranks sixth.

Brett Kilar New England College
(Junior, Goaltender Coto de Caza, Calif.)

Kilar picked up the shutout win in the Pilgrims' lone game this week. Kilar stopped 18 Leopard shots in 60 minutes of work as NEC topped Wentworth Institute of Technology 2-0 Friday evening.
